The exhaust changes the engine's characteristics by improving the mid- and upper-rpm ranges, but at the expense of worsening the lowest rev range. Through its characteristic design and the selection of optimal cones of individual sections of the exhaust, it improves the emptying of the cylinder and enhances the occurrence of the phenomenon of "wave resonance", that is, the return wave of unburned fuel to the cylinder which is in the exhaust. The exhaust is "tuned" to around 7000-7500 rpm. The useful range, that is, where the resonance effect begins to occur, is about 35000-40000rpm.
